Ilford-born artist fakemink has exploded onto the new-wave rap scene over the last few years, earning cosigns from Frank Ocean, Drake, A$AP Rocky, and Clairo. He began producing records at just ten years old on a gifted laptop, influenced by indie rock, scouse rap, early 2000s pop, and guided by the copious library of music production tutorials on YouTube. He began on SoundCloud, uploading new tracks nearly every day.
The twenty-two-year-old rapper released his first album, London’s Saviour, in 2023 as part of the emerging U.K. jerk subgenre. Mink stands by the perhaps audacious title: “I actually was London’s saviour, because I opened people’s eyes [to the UK Ug scene]” (Dazed, 2026). Since then, he has recorded over 50 singles, including “Blow Me” and “Truffle.” In 2025, fakemink collaborated with EsDeeKid and Rico Ace on “LV Sandals,” earning him a TikTok hit, racking up over 160 million streams.
After an explosive year, fakemink has been featured in British Vogue, Dazed, and Rolling Stone, which cite him as a ‘rising star’. He received a shout-out from Timothée Chalamet, who included fakemink in his list of celebrities he wanted to see in a Marty Supreme jacket; the actor later made an appearance at fakemink’s London concert. Earlier this year, fakemink made his fashion debut walking in Gucci’s Milan show alongside Nettspend and EsDeeKid, marking a shift for the rapper as he breaks out of the underground scene and into the cultural limelight. The rapper’s next album, Terrified, is slated for a spring release, and is inspired by Dante’s Inferno.
