Your New Playlist for Spring Into Summer

There’s a universal vibe shift that happens the moment the sun lingers after dinner. Suddenly we’re making excuses to study outside, lying under the shadow of people-filled Low Steps as a student DJ hooks up their computer to massive JBL’s. We trade our budding dopamine Spring playlists for the high energy melodies of the Summer. If Spring is the slow-burn, all lush and blooming energy, summer becomes the main event: high-BPM, feel-good beats designed for the exact moment assignments are done and you can get as far away from Butler as humanly possible.

Spring Songs:

“Kissing Days (On the Pier)” — Sumbuck

If you love Caamp, you’ll love this track from lead singer Taylor Meier’s solo project, Sumbuck. Roll the windows down and glide your hand over the wind as you listen to this perfect spring song.

“Dog Days are Over” — Florence + The Machine

Still undefeated, Florence + The Machine makes you want to trade out the jeans for a long skirt and run through high grass, spinning in circles. I highly recommend going to Central Park to do so as the plants begin to bloom again.

“Always Alright” — Alabama Shakes

Strut through the street listening to Alabama Shakes and notice how everything seems brighter and everyone seems happier: is it spring or just the song? Let me know.

“I-95” — Sun Casino

Drive down the actual I-95 or wherever you find yourself and let this song be your jam. If you like this, check out the band West 22nd’s “Virginia Highlands” as well.

“Taste Back” — Harry Styles

Harry Styles pulled through with this song from his new album “Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally,” immediately putting me into the mood that matches the energy of the season. Listen to “Taste Back” walking through Riverside Park, or collapse on the Philosophy lawns as you feel the breeze around you.

Songs for Moving into Summer:

“Rein Me In” — Sam Fender, Olivia Dean

Come on. This collaboration exudes happiness; you can listen to on repeat and after the 20th time, it will still put a pep in your step. Don’t believe me? Try it out.

“Solar Power” — Lorde

Summer is not summer without this song. “But when the heat comes, something takes a hold…”

“Dramatic Girl” — Baby Keem, Che Ecru

Your friend handed you the aux? Put this song on at any moment to capture the exact vibe of summer. The smooth beats feel like a sunset with friends drinking an iced cold bev. “Ahh, this is it,” you’ll think.

“Mistakes” — Caamp

Yes, Caamp is my favorite band, so they get a double feature. Turning on this song transports you to the best of nature: jump into a lake, hike a mountain, dive under an ocean wave: this song will feel it.

“Candle Flame” — Jungle, Erick the Architect

Drop everything and vibe out to “Candle Flame,” and every song by Jungle for your daily dose of summer energy. Let your body feel the beat of the rhythm, and if you need inspo, check the dancing in the official video
